If you do not achieve the required pass mark on a course assessment, you will be given the opportunity to retake it. This article explains what happens when you fail and how to try again.
TIP — Before retaking an assessment, review the course content again — particularly the sections covering topics you found difficult.
1. What Happens When You Fail?
When you submit an assessment and do not meet the required pass mark:
- You will see a message confirming you have not passed, along with your score
- The course will not be marked as complete
- You will be given the option to retake the assessment
- Some courses may show which questions were answered incorrectly to help you prepare for your retake

2. How to Retake an Assessment
To retake a failed assessment:
Step 1 — Review the course content
Go back through the relevant sections of the course to reinforce your understanding before attempting the assessment again.
Step 2 — Click Retake Assessment
On the results page or from your My Courses view, click Retake Assessment or Try Again. A new set of questions may be presented, or the same questions may appear in a different order, depending on how the course has been set up.
3. Are There a Limited Number of Attempts?
The number of permitted attempts varies by course. Some courses allow unlimited retakes, while others may limit you to a set number of attempts. If you reach the maximum number of attempts, you may need to contact your administrator to reset your access.
NOTE — Failed attempts may be visible to your administrator or manager in their reporting view. If you are concerned about this, speak to your training administrator.
